Notice to Residents – Detour

As part of the Lower Peninsula Stormwater Improvements Southeast Regional System Project, both travel lanes of South Himes Avenue from Interbay Avenue through West Iowa Avenue will be closed beginning in July 2024 and continuing until September 2024, weather permitting. Construction will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with occasional Saturdays as needed. As construction progresses northward on South Himes Avenue, driveways and intersections will be inaccessible for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians will be required to detour around the construction zone. See detour routes on project area map.

Notice to Residents

As part of the Lower Peninsula Stormwater Improvements Southeast Regional System Project, the City of Tampa is expanding its plan to replace the water transmission line on West Bay Avenue between South Himes Avenue and South Sterling Avenue.

Construction Notice – February 2024

As part of the Lower Peninsula Stormwater Improvements Southeast Regional System Project, construction is scheduled to begin on South Himes Avenue from north of Interbay Boulevard through West Wyoming Avenue, and will include West Bay Avenue from South Himes Avenue to South Sterling Avenue. Surveyors will be identifying the location of utility lines. There will also be overhead and underground utility relocation, tree trimming/removal, and excavation for the new drinking water pipeline. This work will begin in February 2024 and continue until mid-2024, weather permitting.
